2007

The Department of Nursing was established and first operated in the academic year 2007-2008 as an Annex of the Kavala TEI. (Government Gazette 99A’ / 10-05-2007)

2013

The Department of Nursing is integrated into the School of Health and Welfare Professions.

The Kavala TEI is renamed as the TEI of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

2019

With Law 4610, the Department of Nursing in Didymoteicho is integrated into the School of Health Sciences (SHS) of the International Hellenic University (IHU) as an Annex of the Nursing Department of Thessaloniki.

2024

March 2024: With Law 5094, Article 7, a new Department of Nursing is officially established within the School of Health Sciences of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH).

April 2024: With Law 5103, Articles 30, 31, and 32:

• 1. The new Department of Nursing at DUTH is officially established.
  2. The headquarters will remain in Didymoteicho until the end of the academic year 2024-2025.
  3. From 2025-2026, the headquarters will be transferred to Alexandroupolis.
