The subject of “nursing” refers to the science of nursing. Nursing is a multidimensional subject that combines scientific knowledge, clinical practice and a humanistic approach to healthcare. Its content covers a wide range of topics related to health promotion, disease prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of patients. The main modules covered include a) the basic principles of nursing with an introduction to nursing history, theory and basic ethics and legislation, b) basic clinical skills and nursing interventions in pathological and surgical nursing and c) basic care of special categories of patients such as pediatrics, geriatrics, intensive care, mental health nursing and community nursing. It also covers training in the fields of nursing administration and continuing professional development education as well as research methodology issues in nursing practice.

The field of “Pathological Nursing” falls within the Nursing Science. It refers to the education for the provision of care to patients with
diseases, pathological conditions and chronic diseases. It covers fields such as
diagnosis, treatment and management of various pathological conditions, such as
cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal and metabolic disorders. It also covers
topics of pharmacology, nutrition, preventive care and rehabilitation,
as well as monitoring of vital signs and recognition of critical
conditions.

The field of “Surgical Nursing” falls within the Nursing Science. It includes the training of nurses in the provision of care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The field of surgical nursing covers all phases of the surgical procedure, from preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, to postoperative care. It includes knowledge of anatomy and physiology, surgical techniques, pain management, infection prevention, and the management of complications.

The field of “Paediatric Nursing” falls within the Nursing Science. It includes a wide range of topics that focus on the health care of children, from infancy to adolescence. The main sections that are usually covered include the developmental stages of children, newborn care, pediatric pathology, vaccinations and their education, the psychosocial needs of children, the specifics of pharmacology in children, their nutritional needs, care in emergency situations, specialized nursing interventions for children, family support, as well as the social, ethical and legal dimensions of issues related to the care of children.

The subject “Pathology” includes the acquisition of systematic knowledge of the main nosological entities (diseases and clinical syndromes). The main sections covered include basic principles of pathology, clinical anatomy, pathophysiology, epidemiology, genetics, clinical picture of the patient, laboratory methods indicated for the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases, the basic principles of therapeutics with knowledge of modern pharmacotherapy, as well as the treatment of emergencies.

The subject “Health Policy-Administration-Economics” includes the study and application of principles and practices related to health policy, administration and economics. Training in the subject covers the analysis of health policy, the administration of health units and the financial management of health resources. Trainees learn to analyze and design policies that promote efficiency and equity in health systems, manage health organizations, improve care services and ensure the sustainability of financial resources. In addition, emphasis is placed on understanding administrative and economic theories and models related to health, the evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of medical interventions and the strategic management of human and material resources to improve the quality of health services.

The field of “Community Nursing” falls within the Nursing Science. It refers to the provision of care and health support at the community level. It focuses on primary health care and in particular on disease prevention, health promotion and the provision of care to community populations and structures outside the hospital environment. Educational fields include the assessment of community health needs, the development and implementation of health programs, public education on health issues, counseling, support for vulnerable groups, as well as the management of chronic diseases and home care. In addition, emphasis is placed on collaboration with other health professionals and social agencies with the aim of improving the overall health and well-being of the community. It also includes school nursing and nursing work or professional Nursing.

This subject is a core branch of Nursing Science and is concerned with the care of patients with mental health problems. Mental Health Nursing is an integral part of Nursing Science. Mental health nursing interventions include the comprehensive assessment of the patient and skills that cover the entire spectrum of nursing care. It requires a wide range of knowledge and skills in both the clinical and community settings. Through the application of theoretical models, it aims to develop, implement and evaluate policies, actions, activities and guidelines to improve the quality of care provided.

The subject “Intensive Care Nursing with an Emphasis on the Use of Innovative Technologies” is part of the core area of Nursing Science and focuses on the provision of high-quality nursing care to patients in critical condition. It includes the application of advanced clinical practices and the integration of innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence, telemedicine, modern digital monitoring devices and technological innovations in general, to upgrade intensive care and improve patient outcomes. The subject also covers research on the implementation and enhancement of the effectiveness of nursing care through the evaluation of indicators and effective decision-making. The subject also focuses on nursing administration and in particular on the measurement of the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of patient care and the implementation of new innovative technological solutions in high-work intensity environments.
